The Ministry of Labour and Transport Canada are investigating after a crop dusting helicopter severed hydro lines in Dover Township.

According to Chatham-Kent police, the helicopter was spraying a corn field Friday morning around 9 a.m. on Mallard Line when the lines were severed. The pilot landed the aircraft safely and flew away from the scene a short time later.

Officers located the 26-year-old pilot after being contacted by a witness. They learned that the Saskatchewan man, employed by Zimmer Air Services, was uninjured. However, the helicopter sustained a cracked windshield.

Mallard Line between Winterline Road and Big Pointe Road remains closed for hydro repairs.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
