The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society has pulled a controversial ad featuring U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The ad was posted on Facebook Wednesday morning. It said “You don’t have to be a star to grab a pussy…cat.”

It went on to say all cats over 6-months-old are only $50 between Oct. 19-23.

The ad drew swift reaction online and from local politicians. Essex MPP Taras Natyshak said on Twitter “not impressed by this. It's in poor taste and bad judgement. Someone needs to pull this ad.”

Windsor West MPP Lisa Gretzky tells CTV Windsor she found the ad deeply upsetting and offensive, and she personally called the society to have it pulled.

It was deleted soon after.

Humane society executive director Melanie Coulter says the ad was meant to poke fun at the presidential election and in no way was it meant to make light of sexual assault.

To those who were offended, Coulter says she's sorry.

On Monday, NBC News fired "Today" show host Billy Bush, who was caught on tape in a vulgar conversation about women with Trump before an "Access Hollywood" appearance.

In the 2005 tape, which was first revealed by The Washington Post, Trump discusses unsuccessfully seeking an affair with another "Access Hollywood" employee, Nancy O'Dell. Trump said that when he was attracted to beautiful women "I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet." He said that when you're a star, women let you.

"Grab them by the p----. You can do anything," Trump added.
