Future employees of Highbury Canco will be making lower wages, compared to those Heinz workers make now.

The company plans to hire 250 workers, however, those new positions will see about a $10.00 reduction compared to Heinz. Pay grades have been posted, ranging from $15.00 to $24.00 an hour depending on the position

Highbury Canco President, Sam Diab says the decrease is necessary to keep the company competitive within the industry. He adds the employees will be part of a performance incentive plan and receive defined contribution plan as part of their benefits.

Canco also plans to waive its three years of probationary pay. The plant remains in operation under the Heinz name which will close on June 27th.

The closure will result in the loss of 800 full time jobs and hundreds of seasonal workers.

Canco is accepting applications to fill the 250 full time positions until June 6th.
