Gridlock expected as Huron Church closes near Ambassador Bridge

The southbound lanes of Huron Church Road will close for track repairs and road work that is set to begin on Thursday night.

The closure includes Huron Church from the ETR tracks just north College Avenue near the Ambassador Bridge, to Wyandotte Road.

According to the City of Windsor, lane restrictions will begin at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 with a full closure in the area from Friday at 9 p.m. through Sunday afternoon.

A detour will be in place for traffic coming off the Ambassador Bridge or from Riverside Drive, re-routing drivers off Huron Church to Wyandotte Street.

Area drivers should expect an increase in truck and commuter traffic during the closure.

Pedestrian access to Huron Church under the Ambassador Bridge will also be blocked.

The road work will switch to the northbound lanes between Tecumseh Road and the ETR tracks the following weekend, Oct. 3-5.
