Employees at the Express Truck Centre in Tecumseh were evacuated Thursday morning after detecting a strong smell of natural gas in the building.

They noticed the smell around 11 a.m. at the centre at 3817 County Rd 46.

Members of Union Gas, Tecumseh Fire and Tecumseh OPP responded. Fire crews ventilated the building and Union Gas workers shut down the main source of gas.

The cause is unknown, but police say the area is safe and the roadway is open for business. Union Gas and fire officials are investigating.

There were no reported injuries.
