The future of this year’s Balloonapalooza is up in the air.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association says the annual festival is at risk of not happening unless the organization can raise $30,000 in cash from sponsorships in 10 days.

The DWBIA says it’s a result of the association losing one third of its budget as a result of OLG and Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Corporation pulling back funding.

“It is truly heartbreaking to lose a successful, iconic, family-friendly event and one that has such a positive economic and social impact on our downtown, city and region,” says DWBIA chair, Larry Horwitz.
