Four people have been charged after allegedly attempting to use a stolen credit card at a Chatham grocery store.

Chatham-Kent police were called to a grocery store on St. Clair Street for suspicious behavior on Saturday.

Police say four people were attempting to purchase an abnormally large quantity of product with a credit card that they could not get to process.

The suspects were found and detained by police, while attempting to flee in a taxi.

Officers say through investigation, they determined the credit card did not belong to either of the parties and was stolen.

A 55-year-old woman, 43-year-old man, 29-year-old woman, and 26-year-old man, all from Chatham, were arrested and charged in relation to the credit card theft, possession, and fraud.

All four people were interviewed and later released with future court dates.
