The Essex Region Conservation Authority has lifted a flood watch for Windsor-Essex.

Windsor's roads maintenance manager, Mark Winterton says he hasn’t received any reports of flooding, but remains concerned following last night’s rainfall.

Winterton is asking residents, especially on side streets, who have a catch basin to remove any snow from grates and allow the water collecting on streets to drain. “With the forecast calling for falling temperatures it’s likely going to freeze to ice.”

City workers, like Dan Martinello, have also been in search of more than 3,000 city catch basins. "There's thousands and thousands of catch basins here and it's very hard when we have a limited work force."

He’s thankful for people helping out.

However, worries about home flooding seem to be subsiding with the temperature.

Owner of Parker Construction, Jim Parker says his business hasn’t had any calls yet from homeowners about basement flooding, as he says people’s sump pumps were likely in running condition.

Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a statement on potential flooding in low lying areas like McGregor.

Resident, Nancy Krakana, and her husband were prepared for the worse as they’ve had to deal with water in their home before.

However Krankana awoke this morning to find no wide spread standing water. “Even the street is looking dry.”
