Chatham-Kent police arrested five Windsor teens after an attempted armed robbery on Monday.

Just before 2 a.m., officers responded to a break and enter in progress at an apartment complex on Merritt Avenue in Chatham.

Police say four men, wearing disguises, attempted to gain entry into an apartment while carrying a firearm.

Minor damage was caused to the patio screen door.

No one was injured and the men fled the area as the homeowners called 911.

Through investigation, police learned that a fifth man was waiting in the vehicle and that this was not a random act of violence.

About an hour later, officers located the vehicle and the men in a parking lot in Chatham. Seized from the vehicle were balaclavas and a black air soft hand gun.

Two 18-year-old men and two 19-year-old men, all from Windsor, were arrested and charged with robbery and firearm related offences. A 16-year-old Windsor youth, was also arrested and charged with the same offences.

All five men were transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
