It was a beautiful night in Windsor for this year’s Ford Fireworks over the Detroit River.

Crowds started building early, for some folks, on Monday morning, to secure the best spots along the riverfront for the fireworks.

Many Windsorites say the night is more than just the fireworks. It's about another word that starts with an F. Family.

Family and friends gathered not just to watch the spectacular display, but to spend time together, toss the ball around, enjoy some snacks and relax on a hot summer night.

"It's always a great show and they always put in so much effort into it every year that it's just so nice to see fireworks go off and everyone enjoying it," says one reveler.

For some it's a yearly tradition.

“Just about every year, since we were kids. About thirty years," says another Windsorite.

This years' show started about 20 minutes earlier than usual at 9:48 p.m. and saw both Canadians and Americans take in the show on this side of the border.

“I've been coming over the last five or six years and it is wonderful,” says one American. “It's peaceful, it's clean, it's beautiful."

The fireworks are paid for by the Ford Motor Company and it's apparent both countries enjoy it. This year marked the 58th annual fireworks show.
