A big race Tuesday night for LaSalle’s Kylie Masse at the FINA World Swimming Championships.

She has the fastest time heading into the 100m backstroke final.

This morning she helped Canada advance to the semi-final in the 4x50 medley relay.

The Canadians finished first.

Penny Oleksiak and Michelle Williams were part of the team.

They were also on last night's 4x100 freestyle relay team that finished second in the final last night.

Canada finished in a time good enough for a silver medal, but the team was disqualified.

The Canadians had a relay card mix-up and lined up the swimmers in the wrong order.

Oleksiak was swimming her first race since her gold rush in Rio.

She slept off the disappointment and had a great morning. She had the fastest leg during the 4x50 freestyle helping the team set a new national record.

The 16-year-old also lowered her Canadian record in the 100 metre freestyle.

There were 14 heats and Oleksiak's time of 52.36 seconds was the fastest. The semis are tonight.
