A non-profit organization, Film Camp for Kids is hoping the public can help after thousands of dollars worth of computers, cameras and lighting equipment were stolen.

Jim Allen was called to the Raindance centre on Ouellette Avenue early Thursday morning.

He says $7000 dollars worth of computers, cameras and lighting equipment was stolen.

"They were through the ceiling down the other side and opened the door from the inside," says spokesperson Allen.

"All I could think about it how we need to buy more computers not lose computers," he adds.

Film Camp organizer Amanda Gellman says they have contacted Windsor police.

"For us, we just want the computers back no questions asked, but the police they want the computers back and want to prosecute which we could be in favour of, of course," Gellman says.

Film Camp for Kids teaches screenplay writing, directing, cinematography and video editing.

This summer, the camp is expecting around 200 children and youth to attend.

"It's kind of sad, because I don't know if there will be camp next year," says 10 year old camper Molly Ryall.

Volunteers say they are disappointed.

"A huge setback. It takes a lot. Some of the computers are donated, some we own them and now they're gone," says volunteer Hana Rickettes.
