It appears a contract agreement may be close between the United Auto Workers union and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Both sides announced that the current contract will be extended on an hour-by-hour basis, indicating that a deal may be close.

Ford and General Motors followed suit in extending the current contract which was set to expire at midnight.

The news comes after it was announced Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would not attend the Frankfurt Motor Show to attend to business in the U.S.

The union said Sunday that it had picked Fiat Chrysler as its target company in the contract talks.
