Tecumseh fire officials say a faulty machine was the cause of a $1-million fire Sunday night.

The blaze broke out at Advance Engineering at 2030 North Talbot around 10 p.m.

Officials say it caused $1-million in damage, that includes damage to the machine and $100,000 to the interior of the building.

A machine tube which pre-heats plastic was automatically set to turn-on last evening 45 minutes before shift workers started to arrive.

Investigators equate it to unattended cooking and suggest better monitoring equipment to warn employees when there's a problem.

Fire crews were on the scene for two hours.
