A $25 million deal has been signed that will bring Essex County tomatoes to Nigeria.

Thomas’ Utopia Brand signed the global export agreement with representatives with Festrut Group Tuesday morning, which will produce 2.2 million cases of tomatoes for the African country.

“Positioning Utopia Brand Tomatoes to compete in a global market place required going the distance and reaching out to emerging countries for the development of relationships,” says Thomas’ CEO Bill Thomas.

The $25 million agreement will result in some new jobs, but an exact number has not been revealed.
