A woman is said to be lucky to be a live after her car was in a collision with a freight train.

According to Windsor police, the crash happened in 4400 block of Seventh Concession, not far from Walker Road, shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say their investigation revealed a Ford Explorer Sport Trax was traveling south on Seventh Concession, when it collided with a westbound CN Rail train.

Officers say the 19-year-old woman was trapped in her car for about half an hour. Her ankle was thought to have been broken, as she was pinned under the vehicle’s dashboard. Windsor Fire and Rescue Services were called in to extricate the driver.

The roadway was closed to traffic between Walker Road and Baseline for a period of time.
