Windsor police says an elderly woman was found dead Thursday, near the WFCU Centre, after her motorized wheelchair overturned.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a deceased person in the 1500 block of Lauzon Road.
Through their investigation, police say the 71-year-old woman was out on a shopping trip, when her motorized wheelchair overturned into a ditch. She was a nearby resident at a retirement home in the 9800 block of McHugh Drive.
Police say staff became concerned after the woman didn’t return after several hours.
A cause of death has not been released. Officers say next of kin is being contacted.
Police say fowl play is not suspected.
