A Mississauga man is charged after police allegedly clocked a vehicle travelling at nearly double the posted speed limit in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police say an officer was conducting radar enforcement on Kent Bridge Road on Tuesday, around 7 p.m., when a vehicle registered a speed of 156 km/h in a 80 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 52-year-old Mississauga man, was charged with stunt driving. The driver’s licence was seized and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

Police are reminding motorists that a stunt driving conviction could result in a maximum fine of $10,000 or a two year licence suspension.
