The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is looking for information after officials say a dog was left to starve while tied to a fence.
The shelter says the dog was found emaciated and chained to a fence at 1:45 a.m. on Friday near the Lauzon Animal Hospital.
Humane Society veterinarian Dr. Aimee Seguin examined the dog, now named Wilson, and found him to be dangerously underweight. Shelter officials say to be in that condition, he would have had to have been fed little to no food in the weeks before he was found.
The dog is an unneutered male, who appears to be a lab/chow mix about three years old.
Shelter executive director Melanie Coulter says medical testing revealed no medical reason for his emaciated condition other than forced starvation. He has gained almost nine pounds in the week that he has been in the care of the Humane Society.
