Rallies are planned across Canada, including one in Windsor as war vets protest the planned closure of Veterans Affairs offices.

The rally will take place at the VA office at 441 University Ave. W. at 11 a.m., where vets and politicians will voice their displeasure with the federal government for closing the eight offices nationwide.

A black wreath with the words, “Lest We Forget”, will be laid at the foot of the VA Building.

The hope, a very unlikely one, is that at the 11th hour the government will reverse their decision.

The closure means veterans needing help with their pension or getting medical assistance will now have to go to a Service Canada location or up the highway to London’s VA office.

The Veterans Affairs office will close by days end Friday.
