It was standing room only at the gymnastics competition Sunday at the International Children’s Games.

The coordinator for the competition, Diana Giorgie, says the athletes at this event can be expected to be competing in the 2016 Olympics.

"Russia has a strong team. Australia has a strong team. The US and Windsor-Essex had a strong women's team, so they're doing pretty well.”

Diane Deslippe, the women's coach from the Rose City club, says many were impressed with the organization of the Games. “Windsor has done such a great job. We've had so many compliments from all the countries from our opening ceremony to our hospitality.”

Bailey Sansom of Australia was one of 14 competitors from his country. He plans to spread the news about Windsor back home.

"If they're ever going to come I'm going to tell them to stay in Windsor,” he says.

It’s been a great experience for many, Deslippe says.

"I had no idea going in. Every day I'm just more and more awed at the event and the athletes and the (sportsmanship). It's a wonderful experience. These kids will have it for a lifetime."
