The Ministry of Education has issued a compliance order against a Windsor daycare after three children escaped last month.

On May 29, a mother of two children at the daycare posted on Facebook that a gate in the playground area swung open and three children got out.

Passersby saw the children in the roadway and helped them back to the daycare.

The order issued against La Garderie Les Petites Mains on Ottawa Street says the daycare provider must ensure that every child is supervised by an adult at all times, whether the child is on the premises or not.

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society also launched an investigation, but Tina Gatt, manager of community outreach for CAS, confirmed it is complete.

“In that process, we have reviewed their protocol around supervision to ensure the safety of those children,” says Gatt.
