The City of Windsor has hired a contractor to shore up a derelict building in west Windsor after its property owner failed to meet a deadline.

An official with the city’s building department says they hired the contractor to prop up key areas of the property, located at the corner of University Avenue and Josephine Avenue.

It will cost roughly $4,000 for the contractor to shore up the building. The property owner was given a week to comply with orders issued by the city – they will now be billed for the contractor’s work.

On July 8, a section of the building’s roof collapsed due to heavy rains and a buildup of water.
