Chatham-Kent police say a man was struck with a baseball bat, rock and pepper sprayed in a fight on Tuesday night.

A 38-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with four counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Officers responded to the area of Timmins Crescent and Sudbury Drive around 7 p.m. after a report of two men known to each other fighting. The fight was broken up after police got there.

Police say one of the men was injured and transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. He was treated and released.

A witness who stepped in to help was also assaulted with a rock, according to police. He did not require medical attention.

Through investigation, police also arrested the 42-year-old victim and charged him with assault
