A 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with stunt driving for going 103 kilometres over the speed limit.

A Chatham-Kent police officer saw a vehicle speeding down Centre Side Road at about 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Police say the vehicle was recorded travelling 183 km/hour in a posted 80km/hour zone.

Aside from stunt driving, the man has been charged with driving with no insurance and expired validation permit. His driver’s licence was seized for seven days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Chatham-Kent police are reminding all motorists that upon conviction, stunt driving carries a $2000-$10,000 fine, six demerit points, up to six months in jail and up to two years licence suspension for a first offence.
