An investigation is underway after a suspicious male reportedly offered children candy in the area of Turquoise Court in Chatham on Wednesday.

Police say the male was in the area of a city park on Wednesday between noon and 1 p.m., but left the area when some parents went looking for the man.

He is described as an older white male with white hair and a full beard. He was wearing dark blue jean shorts and no shirt, and had several visible tattoos.

Const. Rob Tobin says "[If] suspicious things do happen we would like to be called right away so we can try and identify the circumstances surrounding these incidents."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Ken Morrell at 519-436-6600 Ext. #87272 or Crime Stoppers.

Tobin adds "We would rather prevent something from happening rather than have something afterwards that could be a horrible circumstance."

This is the second incident in less than a week involving children, and parents are on alert.

On Sunday, a male was spotted watching children play at Kingston Park, but he left after being spotted by people in the park.

He is described as a white male, around 40 years old, 5'6" tall with tanned skin, wearing blue swim shorts a grey t-shirt and aviator-style sunglasses.
