Provincial police say charges are pending in a weekend rollover on the 401 in Chatham-Kent that saw a woman airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Highway 401 was shut down for several hours late Saturday afternoon following the collision between Queens Line and Bloomfield Road in Chatham-Kent.

OPP say a transport truck crossed the centre median and drove through the eastbound lanes before rolling in a ditch. The female driver was pinned under the truck and was airlifted to hospital in London.

Police say the driver’s condition has since been upgraded to stable. Police are investigating but say charges are expected to be laid.

The transport was hauling rubber retread and all of the contents of the load spilled into the ditch.

The Chatham-Kent OPP is requesting that anyone with any information regarding this collision to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
