An application for a court injunction has been filed by the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, to prevent striking workers from slowing down teachers trying to get into the classroom.

There have been major back-ups for teachers getting to school since the strike involving 370 support began on Oct. 17.

The board issued the following statement on Thursday:

“While we respect the right of organized workers to go out on strike and hold information pickets we feel that teachers have been delayed unnecessarily at those lines, making it extremely difficult for them to fulfill their obligations under the Education Act, which clearly stipulate that they must be in their classrooms 15 minutes before the start of class time.

Since this strike began, parents have been asking what we are doing to make sure their children are receiving their education, and now we are taking legal steps to ensure that our students receive the education to which they are entitled under the Education Act.”
