A local animal removal company says the lives of a bevy of swans are at risk in east Windsor.

Ted Foreman, owner of Bob’s Animal Removal says 21 swans at Lakeview Park Marina could die as a result of cold temperatures. At least two from this bevy already have.

Foreman discovered the birds while attempting to free two trapped swans from an ice bank.

The two birds belong to a separate bevy of 10 swans. Foreman contacted the Windsor-Essex Humane Society, who transferred this bevy to Wings Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. However, it wasn’t without loss, as two of the birds died.

Foreman is now concerned for the wellbeing of the 21 swans still huddled together at the bank of the Detroit River. While they're not stuck in the ice, Foreman says the birds are in serious distress. The temperatures are also hindering the swan’s ability to find food in their natural habitat.

It’s unclear whether or not the bevy will join the eight already at the rehabilitation centre.
