A bevy of swans rescued from a Windsor marina, were re-introduced to the wild Thursday.

A crowd gathered at Lakeview Park Marina in Windsor Thursday afternoon, as members from Wings Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, released the swans after nearly two months of therapy.

The animals were brought to Wings on Feb. 27, after 21 swans were found in distress near the banks of the marina. Several swans had to be freed from the ice, while others were malnourished. At least two of the animals died on that day.

Officials say the swans were too tired to even chew. They have since improved, and it was determined on Monday that the animals were ready to be released back into the wild.

The swans are part of a number of critters that were brought into Wings during this year’s harsh winter.
