Thousands of dollars’ worth of musical instruments and equipment was stolen over the weekend from a truck parked near the Windsor-Detroit tunnel.

On Saturday night, Matt Lalonde visited his girlfriend downtown after playing a gig, parking his truck full of equipment on Goyeau Street near Tuscarora Street. Lalonde and bandmate Amedeo Falconio are taking matters into their own hands, by visiting dozens of pawn shops and thrift stores around Windsor-Essex.

According to police, the equipment was stored in a pick-up truck that had a cap on the back, but Lalonde said as secure as it was, it didn’t stop the thieves.

"They had pried it off, must have been a crowbar or something because it was off the hinges and just hanging there," says Lalonde.

It’s estimated that over $11,000 worth of guitars, amps and cords were stolen.

"I have nothing going on right now. I can't work, I can't make a living,” says Lalonde. “I can't support myself."

Lalonde and Falconio are members in a band called Class X.

"A lot of that stuff took a lot of years to get, cost a lot of money,” says Falconio.
However, this isn't the first time Lalonde has risen from tragedy. On Christmas Eve two years ago suspects broke into his home stealing computers and equipment.

Some of those belongings were eventually recovered through searches on Kijiji and Craigslist. Now the band is hoping luck will be on their side once more.

"Even if we don't get the stuff back, at least we know we tried everything that we possibly could to get everything back," says Falconio.

Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police or Crime Stoppers.
