An investigation is underway after yet another fatal dog attack in Windsor.

That's two in the last two weeks and it doesn't include a third attack that badly injured another pet.

It's believed the same dog is responsible.

Some dog owners are concerned it will happen again and they want the matter dealt with as soon as possible.

Windsor Police were called to investigate the latest attack on Thursday around 3:30 p.m. at Jackson Park.

The matter has since been handed over to the city. Officials say bylaw officers are doing what they can to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

“That's a horrible thing,” says dog owner Bruce Tremblay.

Even with a good-sized dog, he says he's concerned.

“I'm hearing form others this is happening,” says Tremblay. “So you look around and what kind of dog they've got.”

In the latest attack, police say a woman was walking her dog when it broke free from its leash and attacked a smaller dog.

“She was able to intervene and get small dog away,” says Const. Andrew Drouillard. “But unfortunately, the injuries were serious and small dog succumbed to injuries and had to be put down at the vets.”

The woman called the authorities and took responsibility for the incident.  She told officers her dog was an Anatolian Shepard.

On Feb. 2, police believe the same dog was involved in a similar incident that left a small dog dead. In that case, a relative of the woman was walking the larger dog.

City bylaw officers are investigating.

But authorities have not yet connected these attacks to a third one, that badly injured a four-year old Shitzu.

Bylaw officers have been in contact with the owner of the dog.  The city's supervisor of licensing says the investigation will be expedited.

Under the Dog Owners Liability Act Of Ontario, Craig Robertson says charges could be laid and he says a number of sanctions could be placed against the owner or animal.
