Ambulances usually are not involved in an accident scene.

Windsor police say an ambulance and a truck were involved in a crash Friday morning that resulted in a damaged hydro pole on Ojibway Parkway Friday morning.

Other emergency crews were called to the multi-vehicle crash at 7:54 a.m.

Two paramedics received non-life threatening injuries. EMS officials say they were in doing fine after being sent to hospital.

Police are still investigating how the ambulance came to rest in the ditch off Ojibway Parkway.

“The paramedics were on their way to the end of their shift, they were returning back to their home station,” says EMS spokesperson Justin Lammers.

Const. Andrew Drouillard says a pickup truck was also involved.

“There was just a driver in the vehicle, no passenger, but no one was hurt in that vehicle,” says Drouillard.

Ojibway was closed to traffic between Sprucewood Avenue and Morton Drive for most of the day while the pole was repaired.

The Ministry of Labour was called in to investigate.
